I recently moved into a new home and it is full of a whole lot of pretty things! Often people expect that as I work so closely with death and definitely walk my talk in preparing for the end of life, I would not have a lot of possessions. Incorrect. I have loads of things that make my eyes smile. This is likely because many people equate minimalism with good preparedness for the end of life–with fewer possessions, your loved ones will not have so many things to worry about getting rid of after death.

While there is a lot of value in decluttering your life to make it easier on those you love, I think it’s equally as important to make sure to forward your values for living into your dying. Here’s an example: I value beautiful things in living. When I die, people in my life would be shocked to walk into my house and see only one pretty vase and half a pair of shoes cause as I mentioned, I like pretty things! They will likely be much happier to walk into a home that looks like ME full of treasures and magic from my travels as long as there is a clear plan on how to get rid of them after I die. That is the key.

What do you value in life and how can you forward it into your death?

As always, thank you for giving me a minute of your life to think about the end of it!! 🙏🏿⏳💜
